The Ajax-Pickering Chapter of CARP has collaborated with the Durham Elder Abuse Network (DEAN) to launch a 2012 campaign to end elder abuse. As part of the World Elder Abuse Day on Friday June 15, the CARP Chapter will be a sponsor and participant and will be announcing a series of information and awareness seminars for the community over the next 6 months.

These seminars will feature presentations from well-known regional advocates, Tammy Rankin (Durham Region Elder Abuse) and Seargent John Keating (Durham Regional Police). They will focus on the topic of senior safety and will help inform the community of what to be aware of to prevent and recognize abuse situations. These seminars will be held at the Ajax Public Library and the Pickering Public Library on the following dates:

•    Ajax Public Library: Tuesday, July 31 – 6:00-8:00 PM
