Alzheimer Society’s August Movie Nights

The Alzheimer Society of Hamilton and Halton invite you to join them at their library, 2345 Wyecroft Rd., Unit 13,  Oakville, on Thursday evenings throughout August for their free movies.

The Family Guide to Alzheimer’s Disease (Thurs. Aug. 2nd, 6:00pm– 7:30pm) An informational resource DVD about understanding some symptoms of dementia.

Complaints of a Dutiful Daughter (Thursday Aug. 9th, 6:00 pm– 7:30 pm) A documentary of how one daughter supported her mother’s journey through Alzheimer’s disease.

50 First Dates (Thursday Aug. 16th, 6:00 pm—7:30 pm) A fun Hollywood depiction of what life can be like with short term memory loss (*this movie is not about Alzheimer’s disease)

Savages (Thursday Aug. 23rd, 6:00pm-7:30pm) A fictitious story about two adult siblings suddenly thrust into the role of caregiver for a father that was rarely involved in their lives.

The Alzheimer’s Project (HBO)- Research updates (Thursday Aug. 30th, 6:00-7:30) From the full series, specific segments on research will be shown (genetics, insulin and Alzheimer’s connection, cognitive reserve, inflammation, the immune system.)

Their office and library are open late on Thursdays. Please join them for one of their movies, or simply come by to browse!
