Help for Seniors With Snow Shoveling

Winter is upon us with avengeance, and with it comes clogged sidewalks and driveways.  Seniors are not exempt from complying with the city’s bylaw that we clean sidewalks within 48 hours of a snowfall. However, not every senior is physically capable of keeping up with the city’s requirement.

There is help available, however.  Contact the Seniors Association of Greater Edmonton (SAGE) about the ”SnowBusters” program. Through SnowBusters, community leagues or non-profit organizations will clean your sidewalks for a modest fee. The fee that you pay goes to support the community organization doing the work rather than the more expensive snow removal contractors.  It’s a great way to support your community while receiving a valuable service.

For more information, or to find out who the SnowBusters are in your area, go to the SAGE Website, or contact them by telephone at (780) 423-5510.

In addition, the City of Edmonton Website provides the following information:

For assistance with snow shoveling, contact the organization in your area. Workers are interested in helping seniors, pre-screened and provide reasonable rates.
