Acclaim Health’s Seniors Day Program for people with Alzheimer disease or a related dementia has just received funding from the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) to increase its hours of operation.

Beginning January 11, 2014, the Seniors Day Program in Oakville will be open every Saturday from 8:30am-4:30pm, and Tuesday hours will be extended to 8:30pm beginning January 14, 2014.

“The extra hours will allow us to better support families caring for a person with Alzheimer disease and dementia,” states Nancy Fazzalari, Director of Alzheimer Services. “Our day program provides specialized, therapeutic activities to increase quality of life for the person with dementia, while giving the caregiver a much needed break to run errands or simply to have some time to themselves.”

“With the need for dementia care increasing all of the time, this funding is extremely important,” adds Acclaim Health CEO, Angela Brewer.  “The support provided by our Seniors Day Program helps families keep their loved ones at home as long as possible, and ensures that those with dementia feel valued and engaged.”

Acclaim Health’s Seniors Day Program is available in both Oakville and Burlington.  Spaces are available immediately in the Burlington location.
