SENIORS’ EXPO ANNOUNCES PROGRAM

The program committee for the Seniors Expo, now named the Mills Community Support presents Mississippi Mills Seniors Expo, has just released the complete program for the 2014 edition. There will be elected officials, and candidates running in the October election, present to talk to attendees at different times throughout the day. This may be your best chance to have a thoughtful one-on-one meeting with your representatives about the issues that are important to seniors.

A program of interesting presentations will capture the attention of many throughout the day. We really worked to improve the quality of the presentation program for this year and are looking forward to attendees reactions. One highlight will be a presentation of the new seniors driving program by the Ministry of Transportation. What changes does the ministry have in mind for seniors now? said Don Cram, program chairman.

The expo runs Thursday, September 11, from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Almonte and District Community Centre, 182 Bridge St. The complete program is:

9 AM Opening Ceremonies with Al Lunney as emcee.
9:30 New Senior Driving Program, Josee Bessette, Ministry of Transportation
10:15 Pole Walking with Greg Bellamy
10:45 Fire Safety by Pascal Meunier, Mississippi Mills new Fire Chief
11:15 Tai Chi with Joy Delahunt
12:30 Bonnie Schnittker, Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit
1 PM Zumba for Seniors
1:30 Provincial Tax Credits and Benefits for Seniors by Caroline Chartrand
2 PM Chair Yoga with April Geogeadis
