FREE Energy Efficient Home Improvements

Recently Dawn Edgley from the Brockville & 1000 Islands CARP Chapter sat down with Amy Pound, Marketing and Event Coordinator from GREENSAVER, Ontario’s oldest not-for-profit energy efficiency organization to talk about their Energy Efficient Home Improvement program.  A 100% free, no-strings-attached program for anyone over the age of 18 and qualifies based on household income.  The application is simple and they will not ask you for your social insurance number or other information you need to protect.

What They Can Do For You AT ABSOLUTELY NO COST! 

“GreenSaver can help you reduce the cost of your hydro bill! We provide FREE energy efficient upgrades like light bulbs, fridges, freezers, window air conditioners and portable dehumidifiers to your home or apartment through the Home Assistance Program. If your home is heated electrically you may even qualify for home insulation. This program is for both renters and owners and available at absolutely no cost.”

STEP # 1:  See if you qualify

Option 1:  based on the number of people living in the home and before-tax annual household income:

1 person:  $32,212

2 persons:  $40. 103

3 persons:  $49, 302

5 persons:  $67,892

6 persons:  $76,569

7 or more:  $85, 248

Option 2

You have received one of the following
for the past 12 months:

  • National Child Benefit Supplement
  • Allowance for the Survivor
  • Guaranteed Income Supplement
  • Allowance for Seniors
  • Ontario Works
  • Ontario Disability Support Program
  • You have received Utility Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) grant within the past 12 months.

STEP # 3:  Call for a detailed in-home energy assessment

ALSO, The Home Assistance technician will also be able to advise if your home is eligible for a new, energy-efficient refrigerator or other appliances, such as a room air conditioner, or additional insulation in your attic or basement.

STEP # 4:  Based on the results of your assessment, the Home Assistance technician will install the energy-efficiency upgrades your home qualifies for.
