Halton Chapter March Community Meeting in Pictures

At our Halton Chapter Community Meetings in March we were pleased to welcome Paul Vojtek speaking on behalf of the Canadian Diabetes Association.  Paul has been volunteering with CDA since 2008 as a speaker and covering off exhibits in the community. Paul, seen below speaking at the Burlington meeting, gave a very informative presentation entitled;  ‘Diabetes: What you need to know’. It included a comprehensive look at diabetes risk factors, signs & symptoms, prevention strategies of healthy eating and strategies on how to become more active.

We were delighted to welcome our sponsors for the evening who all gave a short overview of the services they offer. They all had displays where it was possible to chat with them and collect additional information.

Tim Turcotte and Rebecca MacCallum with “Heart to Home Meals” provided information on the huge variety of meal options they have available for those who find preparing meals themselves too much of a challenge.

Sherri Moro of Sutton Quantum Realty is an expert on the home ownership issues facing people as they age. At this meeting she offered information on “Sell’n Stay” which is an option for those wishing to stay in their own home without the issues of home ownership. This is a completely different option to a reverse mortgage.

Lynne and Doug Campbell of Canadian Christian Tours had a very busy time explaining their expanded list of  tours and travel options

Kim MacDonald was there representing ListenUP Canada. In addition to her display she encouraged people to visit her office for  a free hearing test.

The meetings always close with our 50/50 draw. Our Burlington winner was Frank Graham seen on the left below with draw organizer Hugh Cass. Frank went home with his winnings of $68.
