Throne Speech makes mention of key issues affecting seniors

On Dec 5, 2019, the Liberal minority government’s speech from the throne touched upon a few of the critical issues affecting our members across Canada.

While there weren’t any real surprises, CARP was happy to see pension protection and improved health care (including national pharmacare) included in the remarks.

As we move forward with a minority government, CARP will continue pressing the government to collaborate on tangible action that will improve the lives of our diverse members across provincial and territorial lines.

“Across Canada, we’re united in our call for a health care system that works, affordable drugs for those who need them and a safe and secure retirement for all seniors,” says Marissa Lennox, Chief Policy Officer at CARP. “A minority government needs to put their differences aside and stay focused on making Canada a better place to age for our rapidly growing population of older adults.”
