CARP in Ottawa – And We’re Fighting Back – Hands Off OAS

October 2026

The Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) is on Parliament Hill this week with a warning for politicians and financial institutions: older Canadians will not quietly accept being smeared as rich, spoiled, entitled, selfish, and hoarding wealth – or having that caricature used to justify cuts to their retirement security.
Stop the generational blame game. Hands off OAS. Put bank customers ahead of sales target.

“Seniors are mad as hell, and they’re not going to take it anymore, ” said CARP President Anthony Quinn. “Work, save, pay your taxes, raise your family – and then be accused of robbing the next generation. That is an insult to million of Canadians. We are fighting back.”

CARP held a media conference on Wednesday, October 7, on Parliament Hill, Ottawa, challenging generational scapegoating, calls to cut Old Age Security (OAS), and bank sales practices that threaten Canadians’ savings at every age.
