CARP has sent the Chapter copies of an “Emergency Preparedness Guide for People with Disabilities/Special Needs”
This booklet has been produced by Emergency Management Ontario (www.ontario.ca/emo) is offering interactive workshops to educate and prepare individuals on this topic.
The presentations include: ? Background information on why this guide is important to the over 1.5 million Ontarians with disabilities. ? The 7 categories of disabilities/special needs identified in the Guide ? What people with disabilities should include in their emergency survival kits ? Importance of having a family emergency plan in place ? Medications and labelling ? Emergency preparations for persons relying on a service animal ? What the general public should and shouldn’t do in the event of an emergency with trying to assist someone with a disability
