HALTON HAPPENINGS March 2009

Happy Crowd at the February 24, 2009 Meeting

Halton HAPPENINGS March 2009 Issue

1st Tuesday Meeting a “Big Hit”

Over 60 who attended the first Tuesday evening Chapter Meeting on February 24, 2009 at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre, indicated they were pleased with the change in evening, new meeting facilities and had ‘FUN’.

YOU made it clear at our Chapter November workshop, that Wednesday evenings were creating some issues for members to attend. With this in mind, we shifted to Tuesday and with a bit more parking and no major conflicts with scheduled programs at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre, a nice enthusiastic crowd and many new guests enjoyed several enjoyable presentations, refreshments, numerous 50/50 draws, a wonderful display and fantastic give-a-away by meeting sponsor ListenUP Canada.

Special Thanks to:

(1)Oakville’s Iroquoia Bruce Trail Club for an ‘adventurous’ presentation and display of our ‘crown jewel’ of environmental beauty

(2)Mike Lansdown and Councillor Rick Craven reminding everyone how to use Halton’s 211 + 311 information systems,

(3)Anthony Quinn providing information from the CARP National Office,

(4)The wonderful staff from ListenUP Canada providing information on an array of services for our members.

We also welcome Halton Chapter member Natalie Ball who stepped-up as a new volunteer to help improve your Chapter Meetings and more!

Thanks to all who made this event a Good Success and to Make Your Chapter Better! Your Chapter Website is #1!

Thanks to your Chapter Executive Team, Halton Chapter Website is the most informative in Canada. Google http://carphaltonregionchapter.cmail1.com/t/r/l/jkdddu/oiibhrr/q to see all of the information for our members and others. With recent support from the CARP National Office staff and our own Executive Team, we are making the best use of our website. In fact, we’ve been able to attract a new Chapter partner and their new ad, Make-A-Wish Foundation with their wonderful 100 Wishes campaign.

We have so many calls about what’s going on in Halton, we now relate visitors to our website to get the latest helpful info! As a result, we have other CARP Chapters and others wanting to come to meetings and ask about sponsorship opportunities. Special thanks goes to your Executive Team members, Hugh Cass, Jim Clark and Greg Metrakos who made the website look the best!
